Drug seizures Wednesday net nearly $2 million in cocaine, marijuana

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - U.S. Border Patrol agents in southern New Mexico seized nearly $2 million in drugs during traffic stops on Wednesday.

Agents in Las Cruces discovered more than 29 pounds of cocaine worth $938,240 in a side compartment of a van.

Agents say they arrested the 40-year-old male driver from Mexico and his 36-year-old female passenger, who is from El Paso.

In Santa Teresa, agents pulled over a vehicle that had been suspected of crossing the border illegally.

Agents confiscated 206 large bundles of marijuana worth $917,896.

Agents arrested the driver, a 33-year-old man from Mexico.
