E-Verify Usage Upheld by U.S. Supreme Court
E-Verify Usage Upheld by U.S. Supreme Court
Miami, FL (Law Firm Newswire) August 30, 2011 – It looks like E-Verify is in like Flynn. This could be a good sign for other states.
“Recently, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a 2007 Arizona law mandating that all employers in the state use E-Verify for screening illegal aliens and yanking business licenses from firms that hire them anyway. The core of the decision was that the law doesn’t improperly infringe on the federal domain, largely because the Immigration Reform and Control Act has a clause that ‘explicitly’ allows states to use licensing provisions to punish employers,â€NO AMNESTY

"Of particular interest are the initial statistics relating to Arizona employer sanctions. The illegal immigrant population there dropped about 18 percent..."
1. How do they know that the illegal population dropped about 18 percent? Yes, I know that they extrapolate these numbers but the truth is, they can only estimate.
2. 18% is not a significant number (statistically, it may not even be within the margin of error since there is no reliable system to track illegal aliens).
3. Does this mean that the other 82% aren't worried about E-Verify or the employers of these illegals just thumbed their noses at it?
Either way, not impressed with the results thus far in Arizona. I will take notice when the number leaving Arizona is over 50%....I call on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism & everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid...
