Ethnic Cleansing Los Angeles Style

Statistics don’t always clarify reality and this common sense bit of truth has become very obvious with the growing number of race related homicides in Los Angeles, California where the statistics indicate one thing and the barrage of gunfire indicates something entirely different.

On March 19th, Los Angeles Police Department’s Deputy Chief Charlie Beck and Detective Jeff Godown addressed the department’s civilian Police Commission in the effort to disprove the widely accepted belief among area residents that the continuing rise in the Los Angeles homicide rate is the result of racial animosity. As of March 17th, the Los Angeles Police Department reports that there have been 93 homicides in Los Angeles this year indicating a 35% increase over the same 76 day period in 2007 when there were only 69 homicides. Beck and Godown used what they considered sound statistical evidence to support their claim that neither race nor any other single factor can explain the significant increase in homicides.

The homicide statistics collected by the Los Angeles Police Department show that 87% of the Hispanics murdered in L.A. were killed by other Hispanics while 65% of the black people murdered were killed by other blacks. Only 13% of the Hispanics murdered were killed by black people and 35% of the black people killed in the area were killed by Hispanics. Beck and Godown, cited these statistics as conclusive proof that race is not a factor in the increased homicide rate.

Understandably, the Los Angeles Police Department wants to defuse the growing public belief that there is a widespread race-driven war between Hispanics and blacks before that belief turns into a full scale panic. Furthermore, there is little doubt that Beck and Godown were following the directive of Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton, who is undoubtedly praying that the statistical evidence given by his subordinates will calm what he characterizes as “rumorsâ€
