SEATTLE (AP) - With Congress set to do battle this week over immigration laws, the issue was debated yesterday in the streets of Seattle.

Dozens of demonstrators who oppose the president's plan for immigration overhaul marched to the Federal Building with American flags and signs that read, "no amnesty." They're demanding tougher border security to keep illegal immigrants out of the US.

Their protest prompted a counter-demonstration by people who'd been marching in a Seattle gay-pride parade. One member of that group says the anti-immigration bill demonstrators are bigots.

But opponent Bob Baker, says it's not a partisan issue. He says it's simply about "standing up" for the country and opposing those who would do it harm.
