    Fatal DWI crash

Sorry if this was posted prior but I looked and didn't see it. If the paragraph stating the charges doesn't spell illegal in capital letters I don't know what does.
    RIP

    Kinston woman fighting for life
Slipped into coma following holiday weekend car accident

    Katie Marshall
    Staff Writer
WILSON — A Kinston woman is fighting for her life after an auto accident had already claimed the life of a 2-year-old girl.

Shaneka Morgan, 21, of 901 E. Bright St., slipped into a coma shortly after the Aug. 31 accident and was listed in critical condition Thursday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Shayla Bellamy was taken off life support Monday and died shortly thereafter, according to Wilson County State Highway Patrol Trooper J.W. Lamm.

Lamm said Morgan was traveling south on N.C. 58, driving a 1998 Oldsmobile with Bellamy and three other passengers in the car.

Gerardo Hernandez Santos, 21, of 730-B Pender St., Wilson, was traveling north on N.C. 58 when his Ford Explorer crossed the center lane, sideswiping a Chevrolet Trailblazer. Lamm said after Santos hit the Chevy SUV, he continued traveling on the wrong side of the road, hitting Morgan’s car head-on near Patrick Lane.

Santos has been charged with felony death by a motor vehicle, driving while impaired, reckless driving, no operator’s license, no insurance, fictitious registration, expired inspection and traveling left of the center lane. He is being held in the Wilson County Detention Center under $50,000 bond.

Lamm said he is still waiting on a blood sample taken from Santos to determine his blood alcohol content at the time of the accident.

Other passengers in Morgan’s car were Rashad Bobbitt, 20, and Dy’Quarious Bellamy, 7, both of 901 E. Bright St., Kinston, and Bobby Thorne, 14, of Rocky Mount. As of Thursday, Bellamy and Thorne were listed in good condition at PCMH and Bobbitt had been treated and released.

Lamm said Santos was also treated at PCMH for a broken nose, jaw and eye socket.

I'd say it's pretty safe to say.

Wow! If he's convicted of all those charges he'll probably have to stay in jail most of the day.
