FBI seeks to match DNA of unidentifed bodies in Mexico
FBI seeks to match DNA of unidentifed bodies in Mexico
The FBI will soon take DNA samples from more than 100 unidentified bodies found in Mexico to try to match them with families of people whose loved ones have gone missing, The San Antonio Express-News reports.
The FBI will be working with prosecutors in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, which borders Texas.
The newspaper says the McAllen FBI office, which covers the border area from Brownsville to Del Rio, has 35 open cases of missing Americans since 2003, while the FBI counts about 40 more unsolved cases for all the border states.
In addition to trying to match DNA with dozens of families in South Texas, the FBI will also attempt to find matches on the FBI database in Washington.
