Federal agents arrested 52 people on alleged immigration violations Thursday morning during a raid of a city factory after a 10-month investigation.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents entered North American Manufacturing, 1075 Barring Ave., at 8:15 a.m., shut down production and asked employees to provide identification, said plant manager Joseph Wechsler.

Immigration officials arrested illegal immigrants from Mexico, Honduras and Uruguay, said Ernestine Fobbs, a spokeswoman with ICE.

A majority of those detained were processed in Philadelphia, where they will be fingerprinted, photographed and questioned, she said.

Some of the women were released for humanitarian reasons, such as child bearing. They will, however, have to appear before an immigration judge at a later date, Ms. Fobbs said.

The factory in the city’s Weston Field section, employs about 120 people, producing field and ammunition pouches and military cots.

Thursday’s raid shocked Mr. Wechsler, who said the company has used an Internet-based program to verify all of its employees’ Social Security numbers.

WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN? THAT THE WOMEN WERE IN "LABOR" AT THE TIME OF THE RAID? DEPORT THEM BEFORE THEY DROP!

Yeah well - the reason they got busted is because they are scumbags to begin with - the cheated someone out of their pay who worked there - so they called ICE about a year ago and told them what was going on inside that shop......if more Americans call ICE on suspected illegal immigration - you'll see more of this....works for me

Concerning the "released" women. From watching the news here, they were released on "humanitarian" reasons. They must have had children. Nevertheless, those women will have hearings before an immigration judge. Hopefully they will show up for the hearing and be on their way home on the first bus! With their children, I might add!

This company should go out of business and with the loss of 52 workers, hopefully so. They pay sucha pittance of wages, no American is interested in working there. It's the dam same old story. They pay these criminals $6 an hour, no benefits then we the taxpayer pay for their health care and educating their children.
About a year ago, the feds took about 30 of them out of 1 house!!!!!!!!!!!
    Disgusting.
