A man wanted on suspicion of sexually assaulting his nephew in Mexico was arrested in Phoenix and sent back across the border Thursday to face charges, authorities said.

Miguel Manuel Hernandez-Beltran, 29, is accused of molesting his 7-year-old nephew about 15 times in 2005 in Cuidad Juarez, according to the U. S. Marshals Service.

Authorities said Hernandez-Beltran entered the U.S. illegally through Texas before traveling to Phoenix to flee law-enforcement agencies in Mexico.

U.S. Marshals began searching for Hernandez-Beltran after discovering he was living in Phoenix. Federal agents made the arrest on June 15 near Jackson and 15th streets, officials said.

Hernandez-Beltran was ordered to Mexico by an immigration judge on June 28. On Thursday, he was brought to the U.S. port of entry in Nogales, where he was released into the custody of federal agents from Mexico.
