Police officers have been telling me privately that they’re seeing a measurable decrease in crime over the past year, and today the DC Examiner tells us that those anecdotal reports are now backed up by official statistics. While Fairfax County sees their crime rate increasing, Prince William County saw a 22% drop in crime in one year. County Chairman Corey Stuart attributes this change to the crackdown on illegal immigration which is about the only explanation that would plausibly explain the differential between Fairfax County, where crime has increased, and Prince William County.
