One Reporter's Opinion - Fighting Immigration Anarchy

It is this reporter's opinion that Daniel Sheehy's new book, "Fighting Immigration Anarchy: American Patriots Battle to Save the Nation" is a modern "Profiles in Courage." Fighting Immigration Anarchy celebrates the grit of rare individuals who have been willing, against all odds, to put their reputations, assets, and prospects on the line for what they believe.
The heroes of Sheehy's story are stubborn rocks, when pitted against a chorus of defeatism that declares the battle against the illegal alien invasion is a losing battle - that the odds against reversing open borders momentum are too formidable, that mass immigration is unstoppable. These heroes are mostly unheralded citizens who made the future of our nation their top priority. Among the patriots are:
An auto mechanic from South Central Los Angeles who tells the story of the black community and the invaders' destruction of the economy of his community.
It is the story of a pioneer environmental reporter who concluded that true conservation required that the immigration-poisoned population explosion be controlled.
The story of a brave woman forced to resign from her local police department for reporting crimes committed by illegal aliens.
And a one-time schoolteacher - Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo - who has become the leader of immigration reform on Capitol Hill, a man who has put America ahead of party and politics.
And it is the story of Jim Gilchrist who, along with his associate Chris Simcox, launched the Minuteman Project, a multi-racial, multi-ethnic body of patriots determined to seal our borders and guarantee the sovereignty of our nation. By legal means, the Minutemen alert border patrol to the invaders; and unarmed, the Minutemen merely ask the border patrol to come and pick up the invaders.
Many media, Hispanic activists, the ACLU, and even high-ranking government officials including President Bush and the president of Mexico, have maligned these American patriots who are seeking to protect our homeland. But the Minutemen have persisted. Their numbers are swelling in spite of attacks by President Bush who condemns the project as "vigilantes," even though they have broken no law and pledge not to do so.
But the groundswell of American citizens continues: citizens who are fed up with seeing our country overrun by millions of illegals - foreign invaders who defy our laws, disrespect our culture, refuse to learn our language, yet drain us of our resources.
Like the patriots of the American Revolution, these brave citizens refuse to cower before powerful foreign tyrants, like those in Mexico City, demanding America accept their surplus people.
The patriots chosen for Sheehy's book are as varied as America, yet they underwent great personal transformations when they recognized our nation's peril. Like these great citizens, this reporter has been warning radio and television audiences over the past 35-40 years:
of the Mexican government's plans to take over America.
of the hundreds of thousands pregnant illegal alien women waiting near the border to rush across and deliver an instantaneous American citizen. of the border patrol agents no longer allowed to make arrests on city streets or question illegals. of the growing battle against worldwide terrorism.
that 75% of all illegal drugs come across our borders.
that more than 25% of the prisoners in our federal prisons are illegals.
that the flood of illegals has reintroduced diseases we had stomped out in the past (i.e., in three years, 7,000 new cases of leprosy have crossed over from Mexico, India and Brazil; 16,000 new cases of drug-resistant tuberculosis that is incurable; and venereal disease running rampant among illegals).
Yet with all this, when Congressman Tom Tancredo went to the White House and warned the president's top aide Karl Rove about the illegal alien crisis, what did it get him? He received a phone call from Rove who actually said to this American patriot, "Don't ever darken the doorway of the White House again." But that wasn't enough; Rove alerted the Republican National Committee not to contribute a dime to Tancredo's campaign for reelection. He didn't stop there: he also called upon the Republicans to find a candidate to run against Tancredo.
Telling the story of this national tragedy - the illegal invasion - the threat to our sovereignty - in his book, Fighting Immigration Anarchy, Daniel Sheehy has indeed provided us with a modern "Profiles in Courage." For this is a national emergency! As this is written, two of our nation's governors have declared a crisis - Richardson of New Mexico, and Negroponte of Arizona - with a further plea for help coming from the state of Virginia.
Recently the Minutemen won two first amendment battles. The ACLU and others have tried to block their appearances, but the judges ruled in favor of the Minutemen with a strong go-ahead.
However, we now know that this is a war on our southern border sponsored by the Mexican government and tragically aided and abetted by our own U.S. government; and a continuing encroachment of Mexico in the affairs of the U.S. is a threat to our security. The president and congress have shirked their primary responsibility - to defend the nation and to protect our sovereignty; they must cast aside the politics of cheap labor, special interests, foreign nationals and governments, and return to their pledge of allegiance to the American people. The administration in Washington can no longer "deaf ear" these cries for help. As American citizens, we must fight back against the open borders juggernaut.Like the patriots of the American Revolution, today's citizens are determined to put an end to the invasion. They're saying to us all, "Wake up America! Time is running out!"http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2005/8/25/115856.shtml
