Five arrested on charges of harboring illegal immigrants; sixth to surrender

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Five people have been arraigned in Las Cruces on charges of conspiracy to transport and harbor illegal immigrants.

Authorities say they believe an elaborate smuggling organization operated for nearly two years.

Those arraigned were 38 Maria Sotelo, 38; Salvador Solis, 36; Josie Solis, 30; Alonso Flores-Villa, 26; and Antonio Campa-Corrales, 46.

A sixth person, 61-year-old Joseph Padilla, is to surrender to federal authorities on Jan. 4.

Flores-Villa was arrested in Fabens, Texas, and the other four were arrested Dec. 22 in Anthony.
