State Rep. Don Brown has proposed a bill to beef up local law enforcement

If illegal immigration was always a heated issue on the Emerald Coast, this was the year it boiled over.

Brown’s bill would also limit the issuing of driver licenses and public benefits to undocumented aliens. Knowingly harboring an undocumented alien would be a first-degree misdemeanor.

There is a conflict here which will cause problems and set precedents. This could set-up the law for failure to pass in the legislature.
Under federal law harboring an illegal alien is a felony. Ferderal law is supreme to state law.
The Law:
1. It is 'aiding or abetting' to "encourage or induce an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law." 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv).

2. It is 'aiding or abetting' to "conceal or attempt to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, illegal aliens, including any building or any means of transportation."
8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(A)(iii).

3. It is also 'aiding or abetting' to "engage in any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts."
8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(A)(v)(I).

4. It is a felony to 'aid or abet' in the commission of the above acts.
8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(A)(v)(II).
Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country.
