FL - Undocumented man living in Havana detained by ICE

    By: WCTV Eyewitness News
    March 22, 2018

HAVANA, Fla. (WCTV) -- The lawyer for an undocumented immigrant living in Havana says he has been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.

Attorney Neil Rambana says the man, whose has not been named, was detained on Thursday.

Rambana says ICE officers were conducting a sweep, looking for particular undocumented individuals, when his client was picked up. Rambana says the officers were not specifically looking for him.

An official with ICE says officers do not conduct "sweeps" but do conduct "targeted searches" for persons in the country illegally that have committed crimes, adding that "collateral arrests" in these cases are possible.

Rambana says his client, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, had been living in the United States for 12 years and had resided in Havana for 11 of those years. Rambana says the man didn’t have the appropriate paperwork to be living in the U.S.

We're also told that the man has a wife and two children. The wife, who is not a U.S. citizen, has not been detained at this time. The attorney says both children are U.S. citizens.

Rambana says he is meeting with the family now.

An official with ICE said that the man being detained does not necessarily mean that he will be deported, explaining that every person gets full due process through the Department of Justice's Executive Office for Immigration Review.

The ICE official tells WCTV every case is different and they cannot provide any further details on this specific case at this time.

The wife and children are citizens of Mexico.

Their law states that if a Mexican citizen give birth on foreign soil...then that CHILD is a citizen of Mexico.

If she gave birth in Chile...then that child is still a CITIZEN OF MEXICO!

    DEPORT THE WHOLE FAMILY

WE ARE NOT BUYING YOUR "ANCHOR BABY" SCAM OR "TEARING APART THE FAMILY" BALONEY ANY MORE!
ILLEGAL ALIENS HAVE "BROKEN" OUR IMMIGRATION SYSTEM
