    An 18-year-old McAllen man is facing federal charges after he allegedly tried to smuggle large quantities of prescription medications into the United States.

    U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers said they arrested Jonathan Gonzales on federal drug charges on Monday evening.

    Customs officers said Gonzalez walked into the United States from the pedestrian lane of the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge.

    A routine patdown revealed he large quantities of prescription meds Rivotril, Tafil and Lasix in his underpants.

    The case remains under investigation.
