Founder of DeSantis PAC says Mayorkas views his job as 'keeping the border open'

"I don't know how many lies it takes for Congressmen and women to vote to impeach him and to remove him from his office," Ken Cuccinelli said.

Founder of the Ron DeSantis "Never Back Down" PAC, Ken Cuccinelli says that U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas views his job as keeping the southern border open.

"Mayorkas has lied to Congress so many times," Cuccinelli said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "It isn't to say he's failed to do his job. He views his job as keeping the border open, not closed. And that is not the legal definition of a secure border."

According to data released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection last month, there have been a total of 736 terrorist suspects stopped at the border in fiscal year 2023, part of the 3.2 million people who have attempted to enter the country illegally.

"I don't know how many lies it takes for Congressmen and women to vote to impeach him and to remove him from his office," he added.

Cuccinelli said that under the Constitution, states do have the right to defend the border if the federal government won't.

"States have the authority to do this under Article One, section 10 of the Constitution," he said. "When a state is invaded, they can repel that invasion and they don't need anybody's permission to do it."

"It is entirely reasonable, when they do this, for the federal government to reimburse them for that effort," he later added. "It is expensive by state budget standards, not by federal budget standards."
