Four Inmates at Large After Escaping Jail in Blythe

BLYTHE, June 16, 2006 - A manhunt is underway for inmates who escaped from Riverside County jail in Blythe. Four inmates remain at large today.

Nine inmates escaped from the lockup at 260 N. Spring Street about 11 p.m. Thursday while at an enclosed outdoor recreation area, sheriff's deputies said. Within 35 minutes, four inmates were arrested, and a fifth was arrested about 1 a.m. this morning, but four remain at large.

The four inmates on the loose are:

Renee Chavez, 23, of Desert Hot Springs, who was being held on suspicion of possessing stolen property.
Michael Anthony Gonzalez, 24, of Indio, who was being held on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and other charges.

Gregory Villarreal, 24, of Desert Hot Springs, who was being held on suspicion of armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and being a parolee with a firearm; "Vallero" is tattooed across his chest.
Robert Carlos Curz, 24, of Coachella, who was held on suspicion of attempted murder. He has a large tattoo across his chest featuring the word Aztlan.
