    CHULA VISTA — A fund has been set up for the two young sons of a rookie U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer who was slain on her doorstep last week, the agency announced Wednesday.

    Donations to the boys’ savings fund can be made at any Cabrillo Credit Union branch under the account No. 192541. For more information, call the bank’s branch manager, Tyree Davis, at (858) 547-7400 ext. 540, or visit their Web site at www.cabrillocu.com .

    Maribel Arteaga, 28, was stabbed to death at her Chula Vista apartment Dec. 10, and police are still searching for her estranged husband, Jesus “Alexâ€

    Those poor boys, to be in the home when something like that goes on. I will send what I can. It is Christmas, and for them to be without either parent is horrible.
