LAWRENCEVILLE — Local governments can’t do much to impact the national illegal immigration debate, Gwinnett Commissioner Lorraine Green said, but she wants to do what she can to address it.
Green has a proposed an ordinance requiring contractors to verify the legal immigration status of their employees before they can receive a county contract.

LegalUSCitizen: I live in Gwinnett - I'm very happy to read about this.

I've been thinking about who should run against Sellout Saxby in the Republican primary next year (or as an independent).

I would vote for Chip Rogers in a heartbeat!

At this point, I'll even vote for Vernon Jones against Sellout Saxby - THAT is how angry I am. And I won't get over it. I'm not afraid of a liberal Democrat winning over a RINO (Sellout Saxby). I don't think Vernon Jones could be any worse.

You guys better stop thinking about the '08 election, there isn't going to be an election in '08 if we don't stop this bill from reaching President Puke's desk. Civil disobedience or another 9/11 type attack will allow the puke to implement his new powers to put the nation in martial law, thus suspending the election process while the final steps of the NAU proceeds. Once the NAU is in place, there will be no REAL US President ever again.

OBVIOUSLY, Lorraine Green will be re-elected!! PERHAPS we should move her up to take over Saxby Chambliss' or Johnny Isakson's job in the senate!! Hmmmmm.

I hope that the proposal passes. I work in Gwinnett and I drive through 6 miles of constrution every day. All I see are hispanic workers who don't speak english and who are probably all illegal. Maybe they can check the legal status of these guys?
