GA: Man Caught Fishing Illegally To Be Deported

Man Caught Fishing Illegally To Be Deported
    Family: Authorities Targeted Josue Castro

    POSTED: 11:59 pm EDT June 11, 2010
    UPDATED: 1:38 am EDT June 12, 2010

GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Beatriz Castro said she was not expecting to be separated from her husband nine months into their marriage.

Castro said her husband is in the U.S. illegally. He was caught fishing without a permit and is now scheduled to be deported.

On Friday, Josue Castro's attorney said his client's final attempt to stay was quashed. He went before a judge asking the arrest be thrown out, but the judge declined.

On May 25, Josue Castro was fishing on Lake Lanier in Hall County. Officials with the Department of Natural Resources arrested him on charges of fishing illegally.

DNR recorded the encounter. In part of it, an officer can be heard saying, "He don't have no identification. He don't speak good English. He don't have a fishing license."

Castro's attorney said that statement proves law enforcement is using the 287-G program to deport all illegal immigrants, not just the people accused of serious crimes.

Arturo Corso asked, "Why is the agency approaching these men? Because of their browned skin."

Hall County is one of several counties that partnered with the Department of Immigration and Naturalization Services. When officers book someone into the jail, the person's citizenship is checked. If they are in the country illegally, the person is then handed over to the INS.

The Hall County Sheriff's office said in this case, they were strictly called to transport Castro. They also dispute Corso's allegations of racism.

The Department of Natural Resources said not providing a valid license is an arrestable offense.

The sheriff's office said the INS was going to let Castro remain in the country; however, when the INS researched Castro, they found he had previously been deported and this was his second time in the U.S.

Corso said he expects Castro to be on a plane back to Honduras in the next two months.

Beatriz Castro was born in the U.S. She is planning to move to Honduras to be with her husband even though her family is in Georgia. She said he did not become a U.S. citizen when they were married because he was already here illegally.

Comments like this are getting so old.....

Hispanics have bragged about their illegal alien status in the USA...they flaunt it, they publicize it and they've drawn a lot of attention to the FACT that they are the largest group of illegal immigrants/criminals in this country. So if the shoe fits, wear it!! If they're lighter complexioned, with blonde hair and blue eyes and still can't speak anything else but Spanish, those are just as suspicious as the darker complexioned Hispanics. Hispanics come in all colors!!

9 times out of 10, if the person can't speak English and only speaks Spanish...they're more likely to be here illegally and the cops have the right to arrest them!! It's as simple as that!

They've painted the bulls-eye on their backs with their arrogance, entitlement attitudes and blatant disrespect for this country its citizens, laws and Constitution! It has nothing to do with race....but they've decided to make it a racial issue and now it's biting them in the a_ _ and they're constantly whining!!

As they should. It is a crime to be here illegaly and it needs to be enforced. This is why we have people protesting in our streets today demanding the dream act. kids that were brought here illegaly were given an educaton at the taxpayers expence and not deported for years. They now feel that they are entitled to stay here forever. I say that they should be charged with stealing from every thaxpayer in the US. Every illegal is nothing more than a thief. If they are not stealing from the taxpayers they are stealing jobs from someone that is legaly eligible to work

I live in a town on Lake Michigan. In spring especially, the coast guard is there checking boat licenses as the boats are launched. Right there in the launch area. Sounds like they're discriminating against boat owners.

I've had my fishing license checked in northern Wisconsin by fish and game wardens. They approached our boat, in the middle of the lake, and asked to see fishing licenses. Must be discrimination. They knew we were flatlanders (from Illinois).

Perhaps LaRaza can provide us with a playbook of protocols of all the crimes that should not be pursued if the criminal is illegal. My relatives used a seining net to catch crabs, it was a rather large net and they were able to go around to bars and sell the crabs. They were asked several times each season to see the license for the net, which was more expensive the larger the net.

So every day in our news, we have pictures of poor illegal Jessica Cololtl, arrested for driving without a license and about to be deported except the president of our state university interceded on her behalf, even though no public benefits are supposed to go to illegals and she was not paying out of state tuition for 3 1/2 years. She lied to the police about her address, gave them a non-working phone number and was given a year to complete her schooling before deportation.

Now this guy. I want them to make a list of which crimes are okay for illegals so we know not to get upset when they demand special treatment.

A HUGE thank you to Sheriff Steve Cronic and his deputes for doing there jobs. I only hope that come November Nathan Deal gets elected as Governor of Georgia and adopt an SB 1070 type law of our own. I also hope that more county Sheriff offices can afford 287g training.

No kidding....one might get a different impression if they were to listen to this dirt bag attorney defending this illegal invader!

Sounds like three strikes and your deported to me!

Another previously deported illegal invader, who does whatever he pleases, laws be damned, and then throws out the race card when caught!

All three combined would give an officer good reason to hold someone until that person can be identified. And it turns out he has already been deported. Keep up the good work!
