No Microsoft does not have a competitor. The United States Justice Department has tried to bust up his monopoly, as he has bought all the new spring up companies that might compete with him. He's been fined for anti-trust violations several times, but nothing big enough to create a solid competitor in the market place. Also, he's not heretofore really abused the monopoly.

Until this day when we learn that he is a globalist and thus a communist with respect to others maintaing himself in his mind as a "Global Elite", I liked and admired Bill Gatess. But, he thinks he'll be part of the Globally Elite and is confident enough to now come forward and expose himself at a meeting about needing workers from foreign nations. But, he's "new money", and won't be invited to the dinners of the Globally Elite....just put in the back room to hack out some new program to dispense all the gov't checks funded by the Globally Elite to the drones.

Drones won't need computers, Mr. Gates, he'll be informed, in our New World Order for they are far too dangerous in the hands of the drones, the drones might use them to "communicate" and organize an uprising and that would mess up our model for "proper allocation of resources for maximum economic efficienies". We're sure you see, don't you, Mr. Gates? You're a pragmatic man, focused on bottom-lines. I regret to inform you but the Globally Elite Council has decided that your business is no longer necessary and Microsoft Corporation was ZOTTED about 15 minutes ago. Your cubicle is down the hall and Security will escort you to your Wang work station. Lets see, its 8 am now, so you can still get a good days work in. Security will pick you up at 11 pm this evening and take you to the lodgings with the other drones for a nice sleep. Have a good day, Mr. Gates! We hope you enjoy your NEW LIFE in the NEW WORLD ORDER!!! Speechless, Mr. Gates? Ah, not to worry, it passes in a few days. This has been a common reaction from a number of individuals in your former position who thought mistakenly that they would be part of the Globally Elite. Move along now, Mr. Gates. Ta Ta!!

Silly Bill Gates....thought he'd be part of the Globally Elite! Ha!

Like Judy said "No Microsoft does not have a competitor" and we probable could not get enough people interested in a slow down purchase strike against Microsoft. We may have to bite the bullet on this one.

I knew there wasn't competition in the states, but I didn't know about the rest of the world. Maybe one of those qualified "foreign workers" could come up with a program that could outperform Microsoft. Then Bill Gates would be asking that foreign competition not be allowed in the U.S. market place

H1-B visas boosts the corporate's profit margin

There is more to Gate's reason for wanting to lift the cap on H1-B visas, and it has NOTHING to do with not having a pool of qualified IT people. It's all about profits.

If you've ever seen a government contract, you will see that these H1B visas are not saving tax payer dollars. Consider this:

I was in contract negotiations with the Air Force and I submitted a cost proposal for Phase 1 of the project. My idea was handed over to a H1B visa holder and he raised the price of the proposal and also gets the 40 million dollar follow on contract using MY plans he received in bad faith.

The government told me the scope of my plans was too expensive, and yet they are paying the H1B visa holder more than what my bid was. He was not qualified to do the work, not to mention, he had stolen plans.

Here's kind of a rough idea of how the profit margins are working. I rounded numbers to make it easier.

$120 per hour for an American IT Contractor's Billable rate that the prime contractor charges the government.

$50 per hour is what the prime contractor pays the American

$50 costs of employee (just making up numbers here)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
$20 per hour profit for the prime contractor

    H1-B Visa Replacements

$120 per hour for an H1-B Visa IT Contractor's Billable rate that the prime contractor charges the government.

$15 per hour is what the prime contractor pays the foreigner

$50 costs of employee (just making up numbers here)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
$55 per hour profit for the prime contractor

The reason Gates wants to remove the caps is so he can get a pool of people who don't get paid as much. Profits increase.

Show me the savings to American tax payers by hiring H1B visa holders. In addition to the billable rate not changing, the 8(a) companies are allowed to bid higher on the contracts and still get the contract.

Americans are being replaced by foreigners. I have plans that would have given more than 100 American IT professionals jobs, but my plans were given to an H1B visa holder's company, who has other H1B visa employees working for him.

The other company I was teaming with lost his sole source contract to an 8(a) company. He had to take a cut in pay, become an employee of the 8(a) company, and is not allowed to grow his company and increase contracts. The contracts are going to 8(a) companies. What I don't understand is why. If the government is paying more for the contracts, then it can't be a money issue.

I know the corporations are happy about it because they make more profits, but that doesn't explain why they are being allowed to do this, unless it has to do with payments these corporations are making to someone... such as through lobby groups to change the laws to tip them towards the profit benefits of corporations.

Did you know you can bypass Microsft office products by using OpenOffice?

Also, consider supporting all the wonderful programmers who make open source applications. A lot of them are putting out awesome code for free. They take donations to help suppor their work.

Example: Don't use Gate's shopping cart. Get Zen Cart instead. I love that cart and use it myself.

I have not upgraded MS products in a very long time, and don't intend to.
