A migrant caravan moving north through southern Mexico has drawn the attention of actor James Woods, who used the development to issue a political warning ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
EFE reported that more than 600 migrants from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Ecuador and Haiti were traveling through Chiapas after the group initially arrived with roughly 300 people. Members of the caravan, called “Fe y Esperanza,” have said they hope to reach the United States.

I’ve watched Woods go from being one of Hollywood’s most recognizable character actors to one of its loudest political voices. This time, immigration and the November elections were his focus.
Woods takes aim at Democrats

Woods shared a video on X showing a group of migrants crossing water as they continued their journey north. Breitbart reported that he accompanied the footage with a warning aimed at voters considering Democratic candidates in the midterms.
In a separate post, Woods claimed Democrats “have nothing to offer” Americans and accused the party of being willing to “lie, cheat, and steal” to remain in power.

Immigration has remained one of the issues Woods repeatedly brings into his political commentary. His latest posts tied the caravan directly to his argument that voters should remember border policy when they head to the polls.

DHS says the caravan has “zero chance”

Federal officials struck a much more confident tone about the group’s chances of reaching the border.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said the caravan has “zero chance” of entering the United States. According to reporting on Mullin’s remarks, he said the administration was prepared to deploy additional federal resources if needed.
EFE found that members of the caravan left Honduras around September 20 and continued north through Guatemala and into Mexico. Honduran migrant José Zelaya told the news agency that he was traveling with seven family members and hoped to reach the United States to earn money for relatives back home.
Earlier in the journey, estimates placed the caravan at between 200 and 400 people. It grew as other migrants joined along the route.
James Woods has become increasingly political

For people who mainly remember Woods from movies such as Casino, Salvador and Ghosts of Mississippi, his political presence may feel like a completely different part of his career.
He’s been an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump, but he hasn’t limited his criticism to Democrats.

In March 2026, Woods announced that he was leaving the Republican Party and registering as an independent. The Independent reported that he criticized Republican congressional leaders while continuing to describe Trump in highly favorable terms.
More recently, Woods went after fellow actor George Clooney after Clooney defended free speech during a discussion at the Venice Film Festival. Woods responded by claiming that his own Hollywood representation had ended because of his public support for Trump.
