Giuliani discusses border fence, illegal immigration

By ELIZABETH WHITE / Associated Press
Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani said Monday it is possible to stop illegal immigration into the United States using border-enforcement technology that exists.
Giuliani toured part of the border in the Rio Grande Valley on with state and local officials and said illegal immigration could be ended within three years.
The former New York City mayor also said that while there are places on the border where a physical fence makes sense, there is a much larger portion where a virtual fence using technology would be better.
"And frankly, the virtual fence is more valuable because it alerts you to people approaching the border, it alerts you to people coming over the border," Giuliani said, the Rio Grande River in the background.
Giuliani did not specifically address the Rio Grande Valley, where there is strong opposition from local residents and elected officials who say it will restrict access to the river and hurt their livelihoods.
A Giuliani spokeswoman, Maria Comella, later said Giuliani has not said anything specific about the Rio Grande Valley and referred back to his comments about the border as a whole.
Giuliani also said he isn't disappointed New Jersey Gov. Tom Kean, one of the chairmen of the Sept. 11 commission established by Congress and President Bush, is endorsing Sen. John McCain.
"He has a right to endorsee anybody he wants," Giuliani said. "There are a lot of Republicans, I'm not going to get all the votes or all the endorsements."
Giuliani was to attend fundraisers in McAllen and San Antonio on Monday.

We don't need a virtual fence for virtual BP agents to capture virtual illegals in a virtual world. We need a REAL fence with REAL BP agents to capture REAL illegals in the REAL world!!! We are not playing video games!

HE IS AN IDIOT! What I do know is he has no qualifications to be president of the United States. I don't happen to believe just being present in NYC on 9/11 qualifies him.
