Government Report Confirms Congressman Reyes' Concerns

The U.S. Government Accountability Office has released a report saying the Department of Homeland Security is not ready to implement the exit portion of the United States Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology or U.S. Visit program.

The GAO report finds the government's effort to use biometric technology to track immigrants cannot take effect without incurring a major impact on land ports of entry.

El Paso Congressman Silvestre Reyes said this confirms his concerns that the U.S. Visit program, as currently set up, will hurt the border economy and not meet the security requirements established by Congress.
