Grieving mother: “Massachusetts is a safe haven for illegal immigrants”
February 29, 2012
Dave Gibson
Boston, MA - On Tuesday, Mary Maloney, whose son was killed last August by an illegal alien charged with driving under the influence, tearfully addressed the state legislature’s Senate Judiciary Committee in support of legislation which would make it tougher for illegal aliens to remain in Massachusetts.
Maloney said: “My son paid the ultimate price with his life because Massachusetts is a safe haven for illegal immigrants. The real question I ask is…Why would illegal immigrants not come to Massachusetts when we are so willing to provide them with jobs and free services they could not get in their native countries?”
In August, Milford police arrested Nicholas Dutan-Guaman, 34, after he allegedly struck and killed Matthew Denice who was riding his motorcycle.
Denice was hit and dragged close to a quarter mile by the pickup truck Dutan-Guaman was driving, according to Milford Police Chief Thomas O'Loughlin.
Numerous witnesses said they tried to stop Dutan-Guaman as he continued to drag the young man through the streets of Milford.
Milford officer Jeanne Van Patten-Steiger, told the Milford Patch: “There were people all up and down the street,. . . [some] were pounding on the truck.”
Milford police Sgt. Jim Heron said that after Dutan-Guaman turned on to Bancroft, from West Street, he drove across someone’s lawn where he ran over Denice again, before fleeing the scene off.
Dutan-Guaman who is in the country illegally from Ecuador has been charged with motor vehicle homicide, DUI, negligent operation, leaving the scene of personal injury and death, possession of open container of alcohol in vehicle, failure to stop for police, driving without a license, failure to stop or yield, resisting arrest and wanton or reckless conduct creating risk to a child.
He is currently being held without bail on an ICE detainer.
He recently pleaded not guilty.
Interestingly enough, on February 18, the illegal alien’s brother, David Segundo Dutan-Guaman, 23, was arrested after he allegedly stabbed another man. He has been charged with armed assault in a dwelling and assault and battery with a knife, according to court records.
When he was taken into custody, police discovered that David Dutan-Guaman also had two outstanding warrants for failing to appear in Milford and Framingham courts for various driving infractions, including driving without a license.
He, like his brother is also in the country in the country illegally and is currently being held on an ICE detainer.

This is tragic and had our laws been upheld, he would have never been here to commit such a crime. Our own government sues states when they try to pass laws against illegals. makes me sick!
