    Guatemala: US Respect Immigrants

Guatemala, Dec 11 (Prensa Latina) The Guatemalan Foreign Affairs Minister Gert Rosenthal begins a visit to US seeking decent treatment of migrants in that country and to reduce deportation rates.

Rosenthal will analyze the subject in a meeting with the US state secretary Condoleezza Rice on Monday.

"We will ask that the situation of those who do not have legal guarantees be normalized," the chancellor told to the press, and said they will request a Temporary Protection Statute similar to the one granted to other countries to avoid the deportations.

From January to November 2006, 16,327 Guatemalans were repatriated from the US, an increase of 4,815 over the previous year, according official information.

Rosenthal? Nice Guatamalen name. Yeah I know, don't be so narrow minded, but hey, you have to admit it is kind if strange.

So, what are they saying actually, they want us to keep their poor and uneducated, then send them back when they are well to do and educated? Sorry Guatemala, if they come illegally, we will send them back, legally.

The Mayor of Guatemala City and the President of Guatemala both have German surnames. Guatemala is a mostly Indian country in which the percentage of Indian ancestry is much higher than it is in Mexico. The urban areas do have Guatmalans whose ancestors were Europeans involved in both commerce and industry. National politics is an urban phenomenon and thus it is not unusual to see names like Rosenthal.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

You can search the forum articles and find the problem. Many of the deportees committed felonies here. They gang together when they get home. "Normalized" is amnesty.

Guatamala's main income is from the illegals. They only have sweatshops there and maybe a few other little employers. In yesterdays Miami Herald they showed the starving children and the day before that they had an article about an illegal Guatamalan woman who killed her baby. She claimed to be poor but was able to come up with $7,000 to pay smugglers to come to the United States. How can we have respect for a country that allows children to starve and does nothing to improve their living conditions. They only look at the American dollars that these illegals send over to help their relatives and the countries economy. It is their easy way out just like Mexico's. This deserves no respect.

No one will benefit more from continued illegal immigration and amnesty, or normalization, than the leaders of these foreign countries. For one reason, they get rid of the poor in their own country. How convenient! Instead of trying to take care of them, just send them over to a country that can't enforce its borders and is governed by nimrods who would rather be appeasing to a foreign land than to defend our own land's standards.
The second reason foreign leaders benefit is the money being shipped home. That money, earned here in our own country, doesn't even get a chance to go back into our economy. It goes into their economy, which goes into the back pocket of the regime. We all know these leaders, with very few (if any) exceptions, are greedmongers. They may have grown up poor, but when they get to the top, they forget where they came from and rob the people blind.
Yes, normalization: a grand scheme. Well, they'll find the ears that will listen here, for sure. The Bush administration will love to add "normalization" to its vocab. It just roles right of the tongue, kind of like "amnesty" and "we are being turned into a third-world country right before our very eyes and no one sees it but the citizens of the US, but who cares!"
