Gunfire aimed at Border Patrol agents

Gunfire aimed at Border Patrol agents

Border Patrol agents on routine patrol are shot at from across the river

BROWNSVILLE – More than 20 rounds of ammunition were fired at Border Patrol agents from the Mexico side of the river.

Agents on a routine patrol in the Fort Brown area were shot at from across the river. We’re told agents didn’t fire back. Instead, they immediately changed locations.

The FBI is investigating, since it was an attack upon federal agents. There’s no word yet if the attack was targeted. The investigation into who fired the shots will continue this week.

Nothing to get excited about. Just another act of war from our southern neighbor.

Duh! I'd say chances are pretty good the Border Patrol agents were the targets.

Why didn't they return fire instead of changing locations I wonder? Orders from higher-ups?

For the second time in a week, Border Patrol agents come under fire from across the Rio Grande.

BROWNSVILLE - A Border Patrol vehicle was shot at 10 times while on patrol south of Oklahoma Avenue and Southmost Road on Wednesday. All of the shots came from the Mexican side of the Rio Grande.

Only one shot hit the vehicle. No one was injured in the attack.

The FBI has taken over the investigation.

Border Patrol administrators say they were targeted when guns were fired from across the river.

BROWNSVILLE – Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol administrators say a weekend shooting incident was not a random act of violence.

Administrators tell NEWSCHANNEL 5 they were targeted when guns were fired from across the river and hit their boat five times.

It happened when agents were patrolling the Fort Brown area over the weekend. Border Patrol agents believe whoever did it was a well-trained shooter. As many as 20 rounds were fired. The FBI is investigating the shooting.

U.S. Consulate John Naland has been following such attacks on Border Patrol agents. He and the Border Patrol say attacks have increased. Naland said it’s believed the attacks are planned and carried out by drug traffickers who are losing money.

Border Patrol agents say they are not intimidated. In fact, they will be increasing their patrols.

    Who is in control?

You can bet the FBI didn't pursue the investigation any further and it was swept under the rug like everything else to protect Vincente Bush's brother Fox. I wouldn't be surprised if god forbid a border patrol agent or other law enforcement person was shot and wounded or worse, this administration would try to cover that up too. This administration has no regard, care or concern for the sanctity of life when an American is involved.

Sorry to say...nothing new. They have been shooting at border patrol agents for years. When I lived in El Paso they shot a .30 round (from Mexico side) through a border patrol car on an El Paso city street that runs next to the border. Missed the agent this time. Now if we would target one of these shooters and return fire, then Mexico would raise an international incident, but they would also make sure it doesn't happen anymore. Just another example of our weak President.
