Gunmen Abduct 3-Year-Old From Calif. Home
Gunmen Abduct 3-Year-Old From Calif. Home
Monday, May 04, 2009
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Investigators were searching Monday for a 3-year-old boy kidnapped by two gunmen who broke into his family's home, tied up his mother and four siblings, and stole property, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert late Sunday for 3-year-old Briant Rodriguez, about nine hours after the family called San Bernardino County authorities.
The men, each carrying a handgun, burst through the front door around 2:30 p.m. and tied up the boy, his four siblings and their mother, Maria Milana. They then ransacked the house and stole money and other property, the county sheriff's department said.
After about 20 minutes, the men left with Briant, telling the still-bound mother and the other children not to call police, the department said in a statement.
"It's horrifying," sheriff's Lt. Rick Ells said. "I don't think I could impress on you how rare a kidnapping like this is."
One of the children — an 8-year-old boy — wiggled free from his ties and freed the rest of the family, sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Beavers said. Briant is the youngest sibling and the others range in age to 16. No witnesses saw the men's vehicle.
The boy's father, Raul Rodriguez, was at work at the time and the initial investigation pointed to the kidnappers being strangers to the family, Ells said. There were no emergency responses to the house in the previous 90 days.
"It doesn't look like it's a familial abduction of any sort," Ells said.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Jodi Miller said authorities along the U.S.-Mexico border had been put on alert, and FBI investigators were also helping in the investigation.
The family lives in a modest, single-story home in a mainly lower-income slice of county territory abutting the city of San Bernardino, about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.
Briant is a Hispanic boy 3 feet tall and weighs 40 pounds, with brown eyes and long, curly brown hair. He was wearing a yellow shirt, blue-striped shorts and black sandals when he was taken.

3-Year Old Kidnapped
Guess California is going to line up with Arizona for kidnappings. They figured out they can get away with it here. Both states are sanctuaries.
I bet there have been quite a few in California to date but your media is probably like ours and keeps it quiet.
Any idea how much it's costing Arizona to deal with the one kidnapping-a-day by illegals? It's been going on here for a long time and we just heard about it a couple of months back.
What is wrong with our media? This is news. We should be hearing about it when it happens. Not a year later. In Arizona everything that has to do with illegals is swept under the carpet. It's worse than ever here.

We now have kidnappings, murder, rapes and other crimes by drug cartels and MS-13 encouraged and abetted in crossing this border by this "government" and legalized identity theft, poverty, disease, and other imported ills. Welcome to the third world kiddies.....
There is no freedom without the law. Remember our veterans whose sacrifices allow us to live in freedom.

...now all too common...illegals, drugs and drug cartel families endangering children on this side of the border. When is enough enough? How bad do things have to get with Mexico before these idiots in DC see that we HAVE to get either the National Guard, the military or a combination of both to assist the Border Patrol and secure the borders? Drug wars, drug violence, human trafficking, human smuggling, kidnapping, Mexican swine flu, chagas, TB...all across the border .....Why aren't our elected officials protecting our homeland?

Welcome to ALIPAC laughinglynx!
This story is pretty big in LA but that's because it was a child. You're right, the adults we never hear about. Kept quiet by the media for fear the illegals and their supporters will start screaming.
All we have here is a Homicide Blog on the LA Times with lots of Hispanic names but no mention whether they're illegal or not.

On Sunday 05/03/09 at approx. 2:30pm, 2 armed suspects entered a home in the 8000 block of Pedley Rd. Suspects tied up Hispanic female adult and her 5 kids. Suspects ransack residence taking money. Both suspects fled the residence taking the 3yr old male child and telling the female not to call the Police. Suspects fled in unknown vehicle. Suspect #1-. Light skinned Hispanic Male Adult. 18yrs old. Skinny, 5 -8 . Wearing black ball cap. Blue jeans. Green T-shirt. Suspect #2- Light skinned Hispanic Male Adult. 24yrs old. Skinny, 5 -10 . Wearing Black shirt, Black pants, Black boots, and white bandana.
Both suspects armed with hand guns.
VICTIM DESCRIPTION:
BRIANT RODRIGUEZ, MALE, HISPANIC, WEIGHT: 40LBS, EYES: BROWN, HAIR: BROWN, CLOTHES: YELLOW SHIRT BLUE SLEEVES, BLUE STRIPED SHORTS. BLACK SANDALS.
Investigators and the mother of a 3-year-old boy snatched from his San Bernardino home on Sunday fear Briant Rodriguez may have been taken to Mexico.
The FBI and sheriff's detectives, who have issued an Amber Alert for the abducted child, said there is no information yet on why this family was targeted.
Rosa Millana, who was tied up inside the house with four of her children when Briant was taken, said she just wants her youngest son back.
She dissolved into tears several times this afternoon while speaking about the ordeal, which unfolded in her Pedley Street home about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
"They said they were going to take the baby to Mexico and they were going to kill him," said family friend Nancy Vargas, who translated for Millana.
Two armed men walked into the family's small, white, one-story home through the front door, which had been left open because Millana was about to take the kids to the park.
They tied the family up with tape while they ransacked the home for about 20 minutes, officials said. Although the men took Millana's cell phone and cash from her jacket pocket, they did not take a flat screen television.
The men then left, taking Briant with them. Millana heard a car door slam but there were no witnesses outside the describe their vehicle.
Briant's 8-year-old brother managed to free himself within minutes and untied the family. Millana immediately ran to Shop-Rite Market & Liquor,
about two blocks away, to call 9-1-1. The boy's father was at work when his son was taken.
"My mom's very tired thinking of my little brother, where he's at," said 16-year-old Jose Barraza, who left for a friend's birthday party shortly before the intruders broke in. "I ask whoever has him to come back."
Sheriff's spokeswoman Jodi Miller said the kidnappers have not contacted the family for ransom and "we are concerned the child has been taken across the border."
Border patrol has been notified of the abduction. Even though an Amber Alert was sent out late Sunday, electronic freeway signs do not carry information because there is no vehicle description.
A sheriff's deputy has spent the day parked next to the family's home. Children have briefly come out of the house, riding bicycles in the front yard.
Briant's father, Raul Rodriguez, sat on a stoop in the backyard with his head dropped to his chest. His eyes were red-rimmed when he declined to comment.
The boy is 3-feet tall, weighs 40 pounds and has brown eyes and brown curly hair. He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt with blue sleeves, blue striped shorts and black sandals.
Family member said Briant loves Sponge Bob Squarepants.
The suspects are both said to be skinny, Spanish-speaking Hispanic men. One is said to be 18-years-old, 5'8 tall and wearing a black ball cap, blue jeans and a green T-shirt. The second suspect was about 24-years-old, 5'10 tall and was wearing a black shirt, black pants, black boots and a white bandana.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Amber Alert hotline at (866) 346-7632 or sheriff's Sgt. Doug Hubbard and Det. Jon Minard at (909) 387-3589.

There's more to this story than they are telling. Why break in and steal nothing but a child? Why threaten to kill him? Something else is going on.
