Guns outside Arizona 1070 hearing - (7 ARRESTED)
Symbols of peace, guns outside Arizona hearing
July 22, 2010 10:52 AM
Associated Press
Hundreds of demonstrators are gathered outside the main federal courthouse in Phoenix, where a judge is hearing arguments about whether to block Arizona's tough new law targeting illegal immigration.
Dozens opposed to the measure carried paper doves attached to plants representing olive branches, a symbol of peace. Others beat on a drum while singing and dancing, and some drivers honked their horns as they passed.
Some supporters of the law waved signs and clutched American flags, and about a half dozen had handguns hanging from their hips.
Police officers in uniforms and plain clothes watched over the courthouse to make sure no one got out of line.
Overcast skies and a strong breeze gave everyone a break from typically searing heat, but rare humidity was making some sweaty and uncomfortable.

Funny how they try to paint the illegals as dove carrying/street dancing,
peace loving children of the earth and the patriots as clutching to their
bibles and their guns fanatics.
I've been thinking about the girl in the Brown Beret video that's going
around. She jumped out of a car and into the middle of 30-50 or so
patriots and started spewing her bile on a bull horn. The only backup
she had was some wimp who looked like he could barely blow out a
candle. The thing is, she knew she was safe even though she was vastly
out numbered because she knew our side wouldn't do anything to
physically harm her no matter what she said.
What do you think would happen if one of our guys walked into the middle
of a 30 or 40 illegals with a bull horn and started waving an American flag
and yelling for racist Mexicans to go back to Mexico?

The Arizona Republic .
Phoenix Police arrested seven protesters outside the courtroom Thursday afternoon.
A crowd of about 40 people had gathered in the intersection of Washington Street and Fourth Avenue near the courthouse. Police had initially blocked traffic from the intersection, but later warned the protesters they would open up the street.
About 2:35 p.m., six people holding a giant bed sheet that said "Stop 1070 - we will not comply" remained in the street. About 50 police had cleared all the others out.
Officers arrested the remaining protesters one by one. It was not immediately clear what charges they would face.
The protesters include: Teresa Mabry, Katherine Chung, Martin Manteca, Carolina Krawark, Marisa Franco and Carlos Garcia. Another man, who was wearing a mask, also was arrested, but he was not identified.

7 arrested in protests outside immigration hearing
By JONATHAN J. COOPER
July 22, 2010 5:32 pm
Seven opponents of Arizona's tough new immigration law were arrested Thursday after they sat in the middle of a busy intersection and unfurled a massive banner that said "We will not comply."
The protesters blocked the intersection for about two hours before they were arrested on charges of obstructing a public thoroughfare following two federal hearings over whether the law should be blocked. No ruling was issued.
Phoenix Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos said the protesters were peaceful and did not resist arrest.
"They were given numerous orders to leave and stop impeding traffic. Obviously they didn't do that," Martos said.
Television images showed police officers in riot gear standing in front of the intersection as demonstrators were detained and taken away for booking. The demonstrators wore white T-shirts that read "We will not comply" and were restrained with plastic zip ties.
Before the hearings, opponents gathered in prayer and carried paper doves attached to plants representing olive branches, a symbol of peace. Three people carried a massive sign calling on President Barack Obama to block the law, and others beat on a drum while singing and dancing.
Some drivers honked their horns as they passed by, before police shut down the street.
One woman drove by, stuck her hand out the window and gave protesters a thumbs up.
Kyl Baptisto, a 48-year-old cook who lives on the Gila River Indian Reservation, carried a sign written by his niece. It began: "We are not immigrants. We are human beings, just like you."
"It hurts me because she's afraid," Baptisto said.
Some supporters of the law waved signs and clutched American flags, and about a half dozen had handguns hanging from their hips.
One woman carried a poster that said, "Citizenship is a privilege not a right." It had a U.S. map with hearts over the states that are reportedly considering adopting measures like Arizona's.
Overcast skies and a strong breeze gave everyone a break from typically searing heat, but rare humidity made some sweaty and uncomfortable.

Let them protest. The more obnoxious they become, the angier American citizens become. That stupid brown beret woman - does she think she's getting any support from citizens? My guess is that Americans become even more resolute in their opposition to amnesty every time someone like her opens their mouths to spit out their racial agenda.
