Thread: Hatch: Legalizing immigrants not a 'boon' to economy

Napolitano said in her speech Nov. 13 that a rigid pathway to legal status would require immigrants who are in the United States illegally to register, pay a fine, pass a criminal background check, learn English and pay all taxes.

That doesnt sound so "rigid" to me. Besides, illegal aliens havent shown anyone that they are willing to learn anything. But they have shown people that they WANT everything. No illegal alien should be rewarded with legal status just because they are in the country. How about getting "rigid" and enforce immigration laws alrady on the books. I cant believe the secretary of Homeland Security is treating the problem of illegal immigration so carelessly.

Will someone please tell me a time in history when criminals lined up to get fingerprinted and pick up ID cards? Seriously, the violent crimial element within the illegal alien community is not going to line up, get ID and start paying taxes.

Do they think we are that darn stupid to fall for that?
