OMAHA — A new immigration court here conveys a message about the swifter rendering of justice.

    Justice for all.

For one of Rachel Yamamoto’s typical clients from the volatile west African nation of Togo, that can mean quicker assurances of political asylum and an end to worries about returning home to the possibilities of torture, imprisonment and even death.

[+]EnlargeRachel Yamamoto is a familiar face in territory that would be relatively unfamiliar to many Nebraskans. The 2003 graduate of UNL's law school works exclusively on immigration cases and spends much of her time at Omaha's new immigration court near Eppley Airfield. (Art Hovey)

It can expedite cases with family implications. Typically, in those situations, “one of the parents, or sometimes even the youngster, is going to be deported anyway. But sometimes, because immigration is so slow, because they lack judges, you can have somebody spend 1-3 months in jail in Omaha

    Good!!!

I had heard as much from various people I know who work within the judicial system but it's nice to have even more confirmation and coming from a pro-illegal at that.......the "family" and anchor baby defense does NOT work in favor of IAs the majority of the time.

Unfortunately, it also confirms what we've known all along which is that the purpose of anchors is to sponge off the taxpayers and hopefully, in the future, ride their coattails to legal status so they can sponge some more.
