This article makes Vermonters come across as Rubes.
Yet another uninformed paen to employment of immigrants no matter what their legal status.
Legal immigrants have a visa or passport and have no need for matricula consulars. The fact that so many showed up is a good clue that there are a lot of "undocumented" among those Mexicans in Vermont.
Cris LaDuke:" They have to fill out the ubiquitous I-9 form that any worker has to do to get a job. If they are here we have to assume that they are legal US workers."
Huh?I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I just spoke with Cris LaDuke and he said that he would be surprised if most of the Mexicans are legal. His office however has no authority to inspect farms and certify them. The Vermont farmers do file I-9s but do not bother to check the veracity of the underlying documents.
