    Hispanics Flee the Plantation
    By Raoul Lowery Contreras

Tom Tancredo’s aborted anti-illegal campaign influenced the debate, certainly, but it was, according to a well-known Republican Congressman, a racist campaign run by a racist. Republicans didn’t buy it and he dropped out five days before Christmas.
What does the enforcement of immigration law have to do with being racist? The racist, bigot, nativist card is played out. It's time to come up with another ludicrous excuse as to why the invaders should be allowed to stay in our country.

It sure is getting old isn't? You would think that would be more imaginative than that.

Boy that's no joke. This guy obviously learned his "fair and unbiased" journalism from the Ruben Navarette University.

Ourcountry, of course they HAVE to play the race card, it is their only argument as they cannot win with anything else. They are simply attempting to hijack the actual truth with a lie so they can garner sympathy, it is all they have.

My husband has encountered this same attitude at work with his legal Latino co-workers, when they feel new legislation of rules are not favorable to them, they have cried foul to him, making statements such as "so and so does not speak English, that was not fair to them", or, "the state is taking away driving licenses from Latinos". Well no the state did not, they are no longer allowing illegal aliens to get licenses!! But hey, play that race/ethnicity card as much as possible, make people feel sorry for you, even when you have broken the law, but isn't that what ALL criminals do to avoid personal responsibility?

Unlike the Minutemen and their fellow travelers in Congress, or Tom Tancredo, immigration is not the priority political issue for Hispanics. The economy, education, war and trade relations with Latin America rank far higher than immigration in Hispanic political priorities.
Guess La Raza, MECHA, and all the other pro-illegal immigration groups will fold up.

The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the Central American version of NAFTA, CAFTA, trade agreements with Chile, Peru and one pending with Colombia are double-barreled issues for Hispanics. They create new jobs and greater prosperity here and for their native countries and trading partners south of the Rio Grande.
Creates greater avenues for the business enterprises of drug, human and weapons smuggling and places US national security at greater risk.

Surveys indicate that when Hispanics reach $50,000 in annual family income or leave the barrio for the suburbs they reregister Independent or Republican and generally vote Republican. Hispanics could be 10 percent of the national vote in November. More importantly, in some areas they might be 30 or more percent of the vote.
These are the hispanics that VOTE. Most of us are against illegal immigration.

    Raoul Lowery Contreras

Raoul Lowery Contreras is as big a "racist" as any I have read=well= maybe Cynthia Tucker in Atlanta is worse. She touts for a non existent black prejudice, Contreras pulls facts out of his butt and slings them at us. His comment on the prosperity re:nafta is so wrong---4 million jobs have disappeared--more on the horizon. The numbers are easy to check.

Most legal citizens of any nationality, ethnic or racial group do not want illegals immigrants here.
