Hispanics Keep Political Allegiances Despite Arizona Law, Poll Finds

WASHINGTON – Hispanic voters have not changed their party preferences for the U.S. legislative elections in November, even after the controversial law against undocumented immigrants was passed in the state of Arizona, according to a new survey.

The public opinion poll, taken by the Gallup firm among hundreds of Hispanics between March 1 and June 8, shows that the same proportion of Hispanics expressed a preference for Democratic and Republican candidates both before and after the law was passed.

Nor have the political affiliations of blacks and whites been altered by the Arizona law that allows police to detain and question people on grounds of a “reasonable suspicionâ€
