    Last Update: 6:43 pm

MISSION - Two people are behind bars following a home invasion case turned human smuggling investigation. Police are working to connect the dots. The case spans three homes in two cities.

Police were called to a home on the 500 block of South Mile Road in Mission. The homeowner reported two men and a woman forced their way into the house around midnight. They beat the man inside with a bat, breaking his nose.

Officers caught up with two of the suspected home invaders as they tried fleeing the scene. The search for the third suspect led investigators to three homes, including one in Edinburg. Police walked up to the house. Moments later, 30 people ran out of the small wood-framed house. Police and Border Patrol ran after them, arresting half of them.

"These 15 individuals are from El Salvador. Sad to hear they paid about $5,000. They have been traveling 25 to 30 days and there are several couples within the residence that traveled together as husband and wife,â€

You cannot dedicate yourself to America unless you become in every
respect and with every purpose of your will thoroughly Americans. You
cannot become thoroughly Americans if you think of yourselves in groups. President Woodrow Wilson
