25 foreign-born sex offenders arrested

A five-day sweep by federal immigration officials and Houston-area law enforcement officers resulted in the arrests last week of 25 foreign-born convicted sex offenders, officials said Monday.

Of those arrested, four entered the country illegally while two had been students who remained in the U.S. after their visas had expired, officials said.

Another sex offender had not yet obtained residen- cy. The remaining 18 were legal residents, ICE officials said.

Among the predators were a Conroe resident, 49, who had been convicted in California of sexually assaulting his stepdaughters, 12 and 15. Another was a 38-year-old permanent resident living in Houston who had been convicted of sexually assaulting his daughter, 12.

Legal residents convicted of a criminal offense may be deported from the United States, ICE officials said.

Those who were rounded up came from several countries in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, officials said.

The arrests were part of Operation Predator, led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Too many of the comments on this article are concerned about their Political party! The problem for at least the last 20 years is too many Elitist Politicians from both major Political Parties have been willing to turn the United States into a welfare state to insure most of our citizens obtain Third World status by importing ILLEGALS for "cheap labor" to take United States Citizen’s jobs for their Political Contributors and Special Interest Groups or outsourcing United States Citizen’s jobs to Third World Countries. Too many U.S. Citizens are wrapped up into "winning one" for their political party and our nation's survival becomes secondary to PARTY Loyalty!

You hit the nail on the head! Americans have been voting for idiots for far too long! Sovereignty first!

I wonder how many illegals the agents came into contact during the sweep that weren't sex offenders? Whatever the number is, I'll bet they weren't arrested if they didn't have a criminal record. Anyone want to bet?
