ELGIN -- A few years ago, sex trafficking occurred in Elgin's backyard, according to Deputy Police Chief Jeff Swoboda.
The trafficking was being conducted through a cab company. Men would purchase tokens for about $50 to have sexual intercourse with a young foreign girl. The exploiter then would collect tokens from the girl at the end of the night and give her $1 for each token.
