(CNSNews.com) – Statistics provided to CNSNews.com by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) show that the agency apprehended and removed illegal aliens from 189 countries in fiscal year 2013, including 256 from Nigeria.
ICE made public the number of people apprehended and removed from the top 10 countries – Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Brazil, Colombia, Nicaragua and Jamaica.
The total number of removals in FY 2013 was 368,644, but with 357,422 coming from the top 10 countries, that left 11,222 individuals whose country of origin was not revealed by ICE.
CNSNews.com requested and obtained that data, which shows that illegal aliens were apprehended from 189 countries, including 256 from Nigeria.
The report by ICE also revealed that the agency has increased its role in removals of border crossers.
“This shift in the demographics of border apprehensions triggered an increase in ICE's use of its detention and removal resources for recent border crossers as CBP (Customs and Border Protection) is only able to effectuate the return of individuals to Mexico,” the ICE report states.
According to the April 10, 2014 Worldwide Caution advisory from the State Department, many of the countries that pose a “continuing threat of terrorist actions and violence against U.S. citizens and interests throughout the world” are included on the ICE list.
Those countries include Philippines (397), Pakistan (154), Somalia (62) Iran (49) Lebanon (52), Iraq (29), Uzbekistan (43), Yemen (19), Syria (15), Afghanistan (15), Algeria (10), and Libya (9).
