CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) -- A former owner of a Cedar Falls restaurant has been charged with failing to appear for sentencing on illegal immigration charges.

Julio Zalapa-Urbina failed to appear for sentencing in January 2007 on a charge of harboring an illegal alien for profit.

He was sentenced in absentia in 2007 to almost two years in federal prison for harboring illegal immigrants at his Iowa restaurant.

He is accused of fleeing to Mexico but was later caught in St. Joseph, Mo., where he used to live.

Officials with the U.S. attorney's office say Zalapa-Urbina appeared in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids on Thursday and ordered held without bond.
