ICE: 14-county operation leads to 83 arrests in Wisconsin

CHICAGO (WLUK) -- The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, an investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security, says 83 criminal or illegal immigrants were arrested in Wisconsin after a four day surge.

Removal officers offered a breakdown of the Wisconsin counties where arrests were made:

  • Door (2)
  • Eau Claire (4)
  • Kewaunee (4)
  • Marathon (6)
  • Milwaukee (15)
  • Oconto (1)
  • Outagamie (3)
  • Racine (1)
  • Rock (5)
  • Taylor (7)
  • Trempealeau (4)
  • Waukesha (2)


Of the 83 arrested, 44 had criminal convictions.

Those arrested were from several countries including Columbia, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam.

There were 16 of the 83 arrests that had no criminal background, while 21 were felons guilty of re-entering the country after being previously deported.

If convicted, those found guilt of re-entering the country after being removed can face up to two decades in a federal prison.

“This operation targeted criminal aliens, public safety threats, and individuals who have violated our nation’s immigration laws,” said Ricardo Wong, field office director for ICE ERO Chicago.

“Operations like this reflect the vital work our ERO officers do every day to protect our
communities, uphold public safety and protect the integrity of our immigration laws. We will continue working with our community law enforcement agencies in order to protect citizens and
enforce immigration law.”
