ICE arrested 139 in Florida
Federal officers make 5 arrests in St. Lucie County

ST. LUCIE COUNTY — Federal officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement made five arrests in St. Lucie County and more than 130 elsewhere in the state recently “as part of ongoing enforcement actions,” the agency stated in a recent news release.
The five arrests in St. Lucie County were among 139 arrested from Sept. 21 to Sept. 25.

There were no other arrests elsewhere on the Treasure or Space coasts during that time, according to a release that highlights efforts in a specific time period.
Seventeen were arrested in Orange County and 12 in Palm Beach County.
More than half the arrests, 78 in total, were in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
Of the 139 arrested, 75 had had criminal convictions for a variety of crimes including assault; sex assault on a minor; burglary; cocaine possession; vehicle theft; resisting arrest; and conspiracy to import cocaine.

ICE arrests 139 people across Florida, including Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties (MGN)
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers announced the arrest of 139 aliens from Sept. 21 to Sept. 25,
ICE says the arrests are part of "ongoing enforcement actions targeting immigration violators and those who pose a threat to public safety."
Of those arrested, 75 had criminal convictions for the following:
- Assault
- Sex assault on a minor
- Burglary
- Child porn
- Cocaine possession
- Conspiracy to import cocaine
- Domestic battery
- Driving Under the Influence
- Driving While Intoxicated
- False reports
- Illegal entry
- Indecent exposure
- Larceny
- Lewd or lascivious acts with a minor
- Liquor possession
- Marijuana possession
- Obtain property by fraud
- Possession of controlled substance
- Prostitution
- Resisting arrest
- Sex offense
- Sexual battery
- Traffic offense
- Vehicle theft
According to ICE, 12 people were arrested in Palm Beach County, five in St. Lucie County, 47 in Broward County, 31 in Miami-Dade County, two in Bay County, four in Duval County, three in Gadsen County, two in Hardee County, two in Hillsborough County, two in Lake County, three in Leon County, 17 in Orange County, two in Osceola County, four in Pinellas County and one in Seminole County.
“The state of Florida has taken the lead in putting the safety of all its residents and visitors before politics,” ERO Miami Field Office Director Michael W. Meade said.
“Because of our excellent partnerships with local law enforcement jurisdictions across the state, we are keeping dangerous criminals from returning to our communities. But there is still much immigration enforcement that needs to be done to increase public safety, as this week’s targeted enforcement action highlight.”
Arrestees who have outstanding orders of removal are to be immediately removed from the county, according to U.S. Repeat immigration violators that that have re-entered the U.S. illegally after being removed committed a felony punishable by up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted.
ICE officials say the remaining individuals are in ICE custody awaiting a hearing before an immigration judge or pending travel arrangements for removal.
Everyone who was arrested was subject to arrest and removal under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the FBI and other federal and local law enforcement agencies were also involved in the operation.
