Immigration officials have arrested nearly 300 convicted criminals in six states, including Wisconsin.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 34 men (33 Mexican nationals and 1 Ecuadorian national) in Wisconsin.

Here are the numbers for local communities:

• Gillett: 1
• Green Bay: 4
• Kewaunee: 1
• Manitowoc: 1
• Princeton: 1
• Wautoma: 1

ICE says all of the suspects arrested in the Midwest sweep were convicted of crimes in the United States that fall under priorities for deportation. These convictions include robbery, drug possession, battery and drug trafficking.

“Our dedicated officers strive to make our communities safer by arresting convicted criminal aliens and removing them from the United States,” said Ricardo Wong, field officer director for ERO Chicago. “By focusing our resources on the most egregious offenders, we ensure the very best use of our resources while immediately improving public safety.”

The other states are Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky and Missouri. In total, 272 men and eight women were arrested.

Surge in ICE enforcement leads to 44 arrests in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A surge in Midwest enforcement by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) led to 280 arrests, 44 in St.Louis.

The initiative was conducted from May 18th to June 13th. The focus was on the arrest and removal of convicted criminal aliens. Officers worked in six states: Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Kansas and Missouri.

ICE reports that 40 men and 4 women were arrested in the area. Convicted criminals were from the following countries: Mexico (33), Guatemala (4), Kenya (2), and one each from Honduras, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Vietnam.

One example of an individual arrested iis a 28-year-old man from Mexico. He has prior convictions for domestic battery and aggravated drunken driving. He was deported in 2007 and then re-entered the United States. Police arrested him in St. Joseph Illinois on May 19th.

Another example listed in the release from ICE is the arrest of a 24-year-old Guatemalan man. He has a prior conviction for aggravated drunken driving. He was arrested May 19 in Urbana, Illinois, and remains in ICE custody pending deportation.

ICE arrests 280 convicted criminals — including 16 in Wichita — during ‘enforcement surge’

Federal law enforcement officials arrested 280 convicted criminals who are not U.S. citizens in six states – including Kansas – during a month-long enforcement project, authorities said.

The “enforcement surge,” which ended Saturday, was conducted by officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Enforcement and Removal Operations group, according to information released by the agency.

The project is the latest effort by ICE to prioritize “the arrest and removal of convicted criminal aliens.” Arrests were made in Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Kentucky and Missouri.

The 272 men and eight women arrested are from 22 countries. All of them have been convicted of crimes in the U.S. and meet ICE’s enforcement priorities for deportation, officials said. Crimes for which they were convicted include aggravated robbery, armed robbery, drug possession, burglary, aggravated drunken driving, illegal possession of a weapon by a felon, battery, hit-and-run and drug trafficking.

ICE officers arrested 35 men and one woman in Kansas.

Of those arrested, 30 were from Mexico and six from Guatemala.

The majority of the Kansas arrests — 16 — were made in Wichita. Another nine were arrested in Garden City.

Arrests were also made in Cimarron, Dodge City, Liberal, Newton, Syracuse and Ulysses.

25 convicted felons arrested in Kentucky on charges of being in the country illegally

Agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 280 illegal aliens in a monthlong investigation that stretched across Kentucky and five other states.

The investigation, which began May 18 and ended Saturday, is the latest effort by ICE to prioritize the arrest and removal of convicted criminal aliens, according to an ICE news release.

The other arrests were in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Kansas and Missouri. The 272 men and eight women arrested are from 22 countries.

Twenty-five men were arrested Kentucky — 16 in Louisville; one each in Bowling Green, Eminence, Georgetown, Lexington and Shelbyville; and two each in Versailles and Lebanon.

All 280 have been convicted of crimes in the United States and fall with within ICE's enforcement priorities for deportation. Their convictions include aggravated robbery, armed robbery, drug possession, burglary, aggravated drunken driving, illegal possessing a weapon by a felon, battery, hit-and-run, and drug trafficking, the release said.

ICE nets 47 arrests in Indiana

(WISH) — Officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) arrested 280 people during a month long initiative nationwide. 47 of those arrested were from Indiana.

The initiative began on May 18 and ended on June 13. Those arrested were from 22 different countries, according to a release from ICE and ERO.

Those arrested from Indiana were from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Marshall Islands, Nicaragua, Vietnam and Zambia.

Police say the majority of arrests were those living in Indianapolis. 21 people were arrested.

Below is a list of other arrests in Indiana:

• Fort Wayne – 10 arrests
• Columbus – One arrest
• Elkhart – One arrest
• Evansville – One arrest
• Ferdinand – One arrest
• Goshen – Two arrests
• Greenfield – Two arrests
• Huntingburg – One arrest
• Lebanon – One arrest
• Mishawaka – One arrest
• Plymouth – One arrest
• Vincennes – Three arrests
• Washington – One arrest

According to the release, a 51-year-old Guatemalan man was also arrested for prior convictions of battery, drunk driving and a hit-and-run. He was arrested in Fort Wayne. A 35-year-old was also arrested on prior convictions for drunk driving and endangering a person. He was arrested in Greenfield.

In 2014 ICE conducted 315,943 removals around the United States.
