ROBSTOWN -The criminal complaint against former Cameron County deputy constable, Luis Enrique Guevara, has just been released.
The complaint is filled with details about the crime he is accused of committing and the admissions he made after his arrest.
Guevara is now officially charged with alien smuggling. Robstown police caught him with three illegal immigrants from Guatemala in his backseat. According to the complaint filed in the case, Guevara immediately told officers that he was a former narcotics officer with the Los Fresnos Police Department.
He had not worked for that department since 1999. He also worked for the Cameron County Sheriff's Office as a reserve deputy for a few months, but that was 15 years ago. As of Thursday he worked as a reserve deputy for the Cameron County Constable Precinct 1. The constable fired him Friday morning.
During his arrest Thursday, Guevara eventually admitted he was knowingly smuggling illegal immigrants. He said he had picked them up at a Wal-Mart in Harlingen and that he had smuggled illegal immigrants several times before, he said he got paid $2,500 a head. He said both he and his brother smuggled illegal immigrants and that his brother was a peace officer as well.
The constable that fired him says he did not hesitate to do so.
Cameron County Constable Precinct 1 Pedro Delgadillo said, "He's a well-known person here in this area, in Port Isabel. I was in shock and disappointed about it, and we just don't tolerate that. We're here to serve the community, and when you wear that uniform, we want our officers to respect the people and the people to respect us."
Guevara told investigators that his steep gambling debts and the thousands he was paid per head lured him into the smuggling business.
According to the three men Guevara smuggled, they made it past the checkpoint after Guevara told them to hide between the seats.
Robstown police stopped the car for speeding, that leadto the discovery of the three men and Guevara's arrest.

Like I've said, all these people who support illegal immigration are on the take with the cartels. Good for the media for exposing some of it. Work it on up the line to the big boys and girls in DC, and what you'll find will rock your world and your view of this travesty of illegal immigration that is destroying our once great nation and lining the pockets of the cartels and their Paypals behind it.

We need alien smuggling to become a capital offense. Easiest way is to treat the border as it really is, a war zone, and these executions could be handled in the field!

Texas Border Cop Allegedly Transporting Illegal Aliens to Pay Off Gambling Debt
by Ildefonso Ortiz
13 Apr 2015
A Texas border county’s reserve deputy constable remains behind bars after federal agents arrested him along with three illegal aliens that he is alleged to have been transporting in his car. Agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrested Luis Enrique Guevara this week after Robstown Police pulled him over for speeding and authorities learned that he had three illegal aliens from Mexico in his car, court records obtained by Breitbart Texas revealed.
Guevara is a current reserve deputy with Cameron County Constables Precinct 1 and a former narcotic’s investigator with the Los Fresnos Police Department. When he was initially pulled over by police in Robstown he flashed his credentials, HSI agents said in the court records
The police officer noted that the three passengers appeared very nervous. As he talked with Guevara he began to notice various inconsistencies in his story. The officer called U.S. Border Patrol agents so they could help determine if the three passengers were illegal aliens or not.
Once Guevara was in police custody, agents with HSI interviewed him and learned that he had a history of gambling in high stakes poker games in Houston and was about $25,000 in debt. Human smuggling was a quick way to for him to make money, court records revealed.
During the interview Guevara told the agents that his brother has a history of working for human smugglers and was his initial contact in order to get started ferrying illegal aliens past the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint.
Guevara told the agents that he had lost his job in Los Fresnos following an investigation into the town mayor and other corrupt officials in the area and had not been able to get a steady job.
