Operation Bullfighter nets 19 arrests for drug trafficking and money laundering.
Feb. 2, 2015 – ICE dismantles major transnational drug trafficking, money laundering organization
Nineteen alleged members of a major international drug trafficking and money laundering organization responsible for the importation of multi-kilogram quantities of cocaine into the United States and the laundering of millions of dollars were arrested Jan. 29 in Colombia, Puerto Rico and Florida. Dubbed “Bullfighter,” the joint investigation was led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Full Story

Jan. 30, 2015 – Lebanese national deported after admitting fraud in obtaining immigration benefits
A Lebanese man, who admitted he entered the United States without proper documentation and lied to obtain lawful immigration status in the country, was deported Jan. 29 to his home country. The removal is the culmination of an enforcement action by HSI and ERO with assistance from ICE’s Human Rights Violators and War Crimes Center and ICE Detroit’s Office of the Chief Counsel. Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today that Ross William Ulbricht, a/k/a "Dread Pirate Roberts," a/k/a "DPR," a/k/a "Silk Road," was found guilty yesterday on all seven counts in connection with his operation and ownership of Silk Road, a hidden website designed to enable its users to buy and sell illegal drugs and other unlawful goods and services anonymously and beyond the reach of law enforcement, following a four-week trial before U.S. District Judge Katherine B. Forrest.

Mohamed Admed Hassan Abdallah Omran, 38, of Egypt, was found guilty of two counts of failure to depart for resisting removal after final deportation orders. The defendant’s trial started Wednesday and ended Thursday with the jury returning the guilty verdict after deliberating for 10 minutes.

California methamphetamine trafficker sentenced
Between January and October 2013, Javier E. Rivas, 35, of San Francisco, furnished multi-ounce quantities of high purity methamphetamine, known as “ice” and “crystal meth,” to a California drug supplier, who, in turn, mailed the drugs to local distributors in the Pensacola area. In September 2014, Rivas pleaded guilty to a one-count indictment charging him with conspiracy.

Texas Panhandle man sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for selling methamphetamine
Hugo Gomez-Barrientos, 46, most recently of Hereford, Texas, pleaded guilty in November 2014 to an indictment charging one count of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. He has been in custody since his Sept. 25 arrest at his residence after the indictment was returned.
