Oct. 14, 2014 – HSI, Colombian authorities rescue 55 sex trafficking victims, all minors

An international undercover law enforcement operation culminated on Oct. 11 with the arrests of 12 individuals involved in sex trafficking and the rescue of 55 sex trafficking victims, all minors. Full Story

Oct. 10, 2014 – Second vice president of Equatorial Guinea agrees to relinquish more than $30 million of assets purchased with corruption proceeds

According to court documents, Nguema Obiang, the son of Equatorial Guinea's President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, received an official government salary of less than $100,000 but used his position and influence as a government minister to amass more than $300 million worth of assets through corruption and money laundering, in violation of both Equatoguinean and U.S. law. Through intermediaries and corporate entities, Nguema Obiang acquired numerous assets in the United States that he is agreeing to relinquish in a combination of forfeiture and divestment to a charity for the benefit of the people of Equatorial Guinea. Oct. 10, 2014 – ICE deports Bulgarian Interpol fugitive convicted of raping a minor

A Bulgarian national, who is wanted in his home country following his conviction for raping a 14-year-old girl, was deported Tuesday by officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). Full Story

Oct. 10, 2014 – Former corrections officer convicted of possessing child pornography

A former Jacksonville corrections officer was found guilty on Oct. 8 of four counts of possession of child pornography. This case was investigated by ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), in conjunction with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's (JSO). Full Story

Nine Alleged Members of the Jenifer Drug Trafficking Organization Charged

OCT 16 (BALTIMORE)
A federal grand jury has indicted nine defendants - seven men and two women - who are alleged to be members of the Jenifer drug trafficking organization (Jenifer DTO) for conspiring to distribute kilograms of cocaine in the Baltimore metropolitan and Woodbridge, Virginia areas. The indictment seeks the forfeiture of $15 million. The indictment was returned on September 3, 2014 and unsealed on October 9, 2014 upon the arrests of defendants.

Edwin Estuardo Martinez-Ortega, 18, was deported from Philadelphia Oct. 16 via ICE charter aircraft and transferred to the custody of Guatemalan law enforcement authorities at the Guatemala City International Airport.
