Illegal alien pleads guilty to sex crime

Man accused of relationship with 14-year-old girl

A 22-year-old illegal alien, accused of having a month-long sexual relationship with a 14-year-old Carey girl, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a single count of lewd conduct with a minor child under 16.

Juan Arteaga-Ponce, who listed a Hailey address at the time of his arrest last November, was originally charged with four felony sex crimes—two counts of rape and two counts of lewd conduct with a minor child under 16, a crime often referred to in court circles as L&L. Both crimes are punishable in Idaho by up to life in prison.

The defendant's guilty plea averted a jury trial that was scheduled to start on Tuesday, May 13.

In accord with a plea agreement, three of the charges will be dismissed against Arteaga-Ponce and the Blaine County Prosecuting Attorney's Office will recommend that the defendant be sentenced to 10 years in prison, with three of them to be served before Arteaga-Ponce is eligible for parole. Public defender Christopher Simms is allowed under the plea agreement to ask for a lesser sentence.

A sentence hearing was scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 19 in Blaine County 5th District Court.

Once released from custody Arteaga-Ponce, who remains incarcerated on $25,000 bond, will likely be deported. Court records describe him as an "illegal alien."

Arteaga-Ponce was arrested on Nov. 4 by the Blaine County Sheriff's Office after a Carey family complained that he had been involved sexually with the girl for about a month.

Court records suggest that Arteaga-Ponce was unaware of the seriousness of his sexual involvement with the girl. The records state that at his arraignment on Nov. 5 he requested through a Spanish-speaking interpreter that he be deported rather than prosecuted.

He SHOULD be prosecuted and then deported. If they know they will get jail time, they might be less likely to do this crap!

He was unaware of the seriousness of this? Forgive me, but why the hell are the IA activists telling these goons that it's NOT OK to have sex with an underage girl??? They certainly have no trouble telling them how to play our system, but they can't tell them that any girl under 18 is OFF LIMITS??!?!

Brings me to another view. What is it with these guys and mostly pre-pubescent girls? 10,12,14? C'mon! They can't find a girl closer to their OWN ages? This guy is 22 and kind of handsome, he can't find an 18-22 year old woman? Disgraceful!

Few courts want us to know illegals are commiting crimes!

I have been doing some research on illegal crimes in the U.S. and I am having problems identifying illegal crimes. It is kept hush hush!
I have been investigating a auto accident in S.C. on I 95 where a 14 year old upstate ny girl was killed. The guy had no insurance, license, registration on auto, The guy was DUI. He put at least 13 people in the hospial.
In upstate NY they are having fund raisers for the family to help pay for the funeral of the 14 year old girl and medical bills from uninsured driver.
I have checked police records and court records and still no mention of residence. Some of the victims remembered that the guy couldn't speak very good english.
Could it be that our courts and police agencies, media are covering up crimes?

Of course, then he'll simply come back illegally, again, and find other young girls to prey on.

The media deliberately hushes up crimes committed by illegal aliens. The story about the 10-year girl being raped and having a baby would've been the top story for a week if the rapist was a American.
