A town of Madison woman was beaten and sexually assaulted Sunday, and her former boyfriend is in custody, News 3 reported. Officials told News 3 the woman has injuries from head-to-toe.

Hector Martinez-Diaz is accused of beating and sexually the woman and then holding her in her Alhambra Place apartment in the town of Madison on Sunday morning. Police said the 24-year-old from Honduras then fell asleep, and the victim was able to call police.

Town of Madison Detective Robb Hale said neighbors should not be worried because this is not a stranger-rape case.

"People in the neighborhood hearing about the sexual assault -- we didn't want them to think there is a stranger out there lurking," Hale said. "We do have someone in custody and this is not considered a stranger rape case."

News 3 reported that Martinez-Diaz is an illegal immigrant. He has been in the United States a little more than three years and usually does landscaping work.

He is expected in court Tuesday.
