Illegal Alien With Criminal Record Now Charged With Murder




LAKEWOOD, CO – On Tuesday, police took Julian Joel Rivera, 34, into custody following a shooting at a motel in Castle Rock.

The Lakewood Police Department released the following statement:

On 1/26/21 at approximately 2:43 a.m., Lakewood Police were called to the Blue Sky Motel at 6205 W. Colfax Ave. for reports of a shooting.

When agents arrived, they found a 29-year-old Hispanic male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim ultimately died of those injuries. The victim in this case has been identified as 29-year-old Geronimo Alvarado.

Rivera has been charged with first-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail on an ICE detainer.

*According to court documents, the illegal alien has a long criminal history, but, due to Colorado's statewide 'sanctuary' policy, Rivera was apparently never reported to federal immigration and enforcement authorities for deportation.
