    No Radical Group Left Behind: Tax Dollars for La Raza

    No Radical Group Left Behind: Tax Dollars for La Raza
    By John Perna
    Published: 2007-08-29 21:18

    ARTICLE SYNOPSIS:

    Our government is once again considering the funding of a "home made revolution" by financing a radical group that is directly opposed to our national interests. But there is more to the National Council of La Raza than advocating for open borders and special treatment for illegal immigrants. La Raza recently became part of The No Child Works coalition, formed to ensure that the No Child Left Behind Act (which radically increased the federal role in education) will retain as much clout as possible.

    COMMENTARY:

    Maybe you have read about the National Council of La Raza before, maybe you haven't. Basically, it is a pressure group advocating not only special treatment, but also circumvention of existing immigration laws, for people of Hispanic descent. Abolition of the "false" U.S.-Mexico border is an increasingly popular theme among La Raza members. Likewise they advocate the abolition of the Border Patrol, which they call La Migra.

    Like many such groups that bill themselves as advocating "civil rights" for minorities, La Raza seems to have received an ample share of funding from establishment foundations. For example, between 1986 and 1992, the Ford Foundation gave $3,000,000 to La Raza, and has added more funding in recent years.

    Representative Ruben Hinojosa (D-Texas) has introduced a bill that would force the taxpayers to the group. The bill, named the Hope Fund Act of 2007 (H.R. 1999), would allot $5 million to La Raza in 2008, and $10 million each year thereafter. Because La Raza advocates legislation beneficial to illegal immigrants, H.R. 1999 would, in effect, compel U.S. taxpayers to subsidize a group that engages in lobbying against the interests of most Americans.

    http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:h.r.01999:

    La Raza advocates the elimination of the U.S.-Mexico border, and actively supports legislation that would grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants currently residing within the United States. According to its website, La Raza also supports immigration bills that would:

    * create a path to citizenship for the current illegal immigrant population;
    * create an earned adjustment program for illegal farm workers who would be eligible to apply for temporary immigration status;
    * create an earned adjustment program for illegal aliens (and their spouses and children) who meet specified requirements;
    * increase to 21 the eligibility age for derivative citizenship;
    * provide for derivative citizenship status for spouses and children of H-1D and H-2B visa workers.

    Recently La Raza has become involved in The No Child Works coalition, joining several other minority organizations in a joint effort to ensure that the No Child Left Behind Act (which radically increased the federal role in education) will retain as much clout as possible.

    When La Raza President Janet Murguia was questioned recently by a writer from the Dallas Morning News, she explained her agenda concerning No Child Left Behind as follows:

    NCLB has changed the way school systems must deal with students whose low achievement they could once ignore. This is particularly important for Latino and ELL (English-language learners) because too few have received education services that prepare them to leave high school ready to compete for seats at the nation's top colleges. (Emphasis added.)

    Note the word "must," which is absolutely accurate. NCLB takes control of schools away from municipalities and states and turns it over to the federal government, which is always the case when the states accept federal aid.

    Congress has no constitutional authority to finance any activist group, let alone one advocating for the abolishment of our borders, amnesty for illegal immigrants, and more federal control over education, such as La Raza. Use the alert below to contact your congressmen and urge them to vote against the Hope Fund Act of 2007.

    Please use the following message as a guideline to contact your congressmen. (Send from here. Your response is editable to create an original message by you, the sender. Please do not support the Hope Fund Act of 2007 (H.R. 1999) which was introduced by Rep. Ruben Hinojosa (D-Texas). H.R. 1999 would allot $5 million in Fiscal Year 2008, and $10 million each year thereafter, to the National Council of La Raza — a Hispanic advocate group that supports amnesty for illegal immigrants currently residing within the United States. La Raza means "The Race" in Spanish, referring specifically to those of Mexican descent.

    Also urge your representative and senators to abolish the No Child Left Behind Act.

    It is not only completely unconstitutional to force American citizens, including our veterans and our homeless, to fund the radical, pro-illegal immigrant and racist group La Raza, which seeks to eradicate our borders altogether, it is tantamount to assisted suicide.

    It is pretty sad that a bill was even introduced. But it isn't going anywhere.
