Carlos Barrios is wanted for stabbing to death Donal Leiva on Tuesday, Aug. 28
Calhoun Police are now calling Carlos Barrios the primary suspect in the death of 25 year old Donal Jurandir Cunil Leiva.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Barrios, who is believed to be hiding out somewhere in the Gordon County or Whitfield County area. He had been named a person of interest immediately following the fatal stabbing early Tuesday morning on Neal Street in Calhoun.

Barrios who is an illegal alien, has ties to the 18th Street Gang out of Los Angeles, Calif., and should be considered armed and dangerous, said Calhoun Police Chief Garry Moss.

According to Calhoun Police:

Officers were called to Neal Street around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, to investigate a report that a man was lying in the roadway. Upon arrival officers discovered Leiva, 25, unconscious on the ground.

When paramedics arrived and began medical treatment, they discovered blood coming from a wound in Leiva’s chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

While processing the crime scene detectives found evidence of a struggle and believe that a fight between the victim and the suspect began in the roadway. Leiva was stabbed once in the chest and was able to run a short distance before collapsing in the roadway.

Witnesses said a fight began between two or three Hispanic males and escalated to a point that a knife was produced and the victim was stabbed. Barrios then fled on foot.

“While the suspect (Barrios) does appear to be a gang member, the murder is not believed to be gang related,â€
