    Illegal aliens jailed

    Illegal aliens jailed

Twelve illegal immigrants were housed at the Sangamon County Jail overnight after an immigration enforcement operation in Macon and Champaign counties Wednesday.

The operation was conducted by agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Marshal’s Service. ICE spokeswoman Gail Montenegro said agents were looking for specific individuals with criminal histories and convictions.

Ten of those taken into custody were Mexican nationals, one was a Peruvian, and one was from the Congo. Their convictions included such offenses as theft, burglary and aggravated DUI.

    Those arrested were: Sergio Navarrete-Soto, Lorenzo Martinez-Estudillo, Ciro Uribe-Cuevas, Michael Kalenga-Mfunyi, Fortino Bravo-Montano, Aaron Amaxal-Palacios, Pedro Hernandez-Hernandez, Fernando Delgado-Cruz, Jose Roldan-Godina, Juan Paredes-Otoya, Edmundo Alvarado-Manriquez and Jorge Mendez-Hernandez.

All will be put into deportation proceedings, Montenegro said.

Illegal immigrant held in central Illinois faces 3rd deportation

    Associated Press - March 15, 2008 7:34 PM ET

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - An illegal immigrant from Mexico faces deportation for a third time after he was arrested by federal authorities in Champaign.

Fernando Delgado-Cruz has pleaded not-guilty to a federal charge of unlawful re-entry of a removed alien. If convicted, the 30-year-old could spend up to 10 years in prison before being deported. His trial is set for May 12th.

Delgado-Cruz is in custody with the U.S. Marshal. During a hearing last week, he said through an interpreter that he worked for four years at a Champaign restaurant.

According to FBI records, Delgado-Cruz was deported on June 30th, 2000 and again after a January 17th, 2003 arrest.

Authorities say he was 1 of 12 illegal immigrants arrested on February 20th in Champaign and Macon counties.

EVery time they do these stories...they should be revealing the name of the employer and the employer needs to be investigated as well. The community should know these facts...poor reporting.

He's been deported twice and now pleads no guilty to illegal re-entry?

Johnny Sutton must have given him one of his cross-the-border-free passes I guess.

Must be nice to be an illegal when you can have multiple convictions, have been deported several times all the while still being able to secure employment in this country and by purchasing a new identity down on the corner. These employers do not even scrutinize these illegal scum bags.

An American Citizen has to undergo a complete background check, credit check and criminal history check and MUST prove they are authorized to work in this country. They can be refused employment if they have so much as a speeding ticket on their record. All this is required of an American Citizen even for a job making as little as $10.00 an hour.

I'm beginning to feel discriminated against simply because i'm an American Citizen
